Verdict. The Nikon Z 70-180mm f/2.8 proves that relatively fast f/2.8 constant-aperture telephoto zooms don’t have to be big and heavy. Indeed, while most ‘trinity’ wide-angle, standard and telephoto zooms are typically hefty affairs, Nikon’s Z 17-28mm f/2.8, Z 28-75mm f/2.8 and this new Z 70-180mm lens are relatively compact and
That said, I don't think either Nikon or most consumers will care that the filter set matches anymore, especially between a 16-35 and a 24-70 f/2.8. Yes - but matching will be good between 16-35 with 70-200 or 24-70 with 70-200. Currently the 16-35 f/4 is matched up with 70-200 f/2.8 @ 77mm filter size. The 24-70 VR and the 70-200 does not match.
Above: Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 OS Art on D810 at 35mm, f2.8. Above: Nikon 24-70mm f2.8E VR on D850 at 35mm, f2.8. Above: Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 VC on a D850 at 35mm, f2.8. At 35mm focal length both Tamrons beat the Sigma and the Nikon in the DX image-circle while the FX-corner is won by the Nikon. Performance at 50mm: This 70-200 FL is a huge improvement over the old 70-200/2.8 VR II from 2009 because it weighs less and focuses much closer. While the rated close-focus distances aren't that much different, older 70-200s cheated and didn't really go to 200mm at close distances. This new FL lens really is 200mm at close distances.

The Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is not a heavy-duty metal lens that you can drive your car over, nor is it meant to be. At 570 grams / 1.25 pounds, it’s barely heavier than the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 kit lens (which is 500 g / 1.10 lbs). Nikon went with an external plastic construction to save weight, except for a few important points like the

Nikon has finally implemented the much more secure hood lock that we've seen in the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. Weather Sealing Just like the lens it replaces, the new 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II features weather sealing throughout the lens body, including a rubber seal at the lens mount.
5.2 x 3.3" (133 x 83mm) long, diameter. 31.7 ounces (900g) weight. included HB-45 lens hood, CL-M3 soft case, caps. US$1890. Model Number 2164. Announced August 2007. Thom's Mini Review: The 24-70mm seems long in the tooth these days. No VR is the usual complaint, but Nikon's more recent zooms—even the more consumer-oriented ones—sometimes
The 105mm f/1.4, 200mm f/2, 300mm f/2.8, 400mm f/2.8, 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4, and 800mm f/5.6 are all exceptional on a D8xx body. The 105mm, 200mm, and 400mm are the best performers, but none of the others are very far behind at all. The MTF charts for these lenses tend to look as close to flat lines as you’ll find, and I find that produces
The Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 OS Art is a standard 2.9x zoom available in mounts for Canon, Nikon and Sigma DSLRs with full-frame sensors, and can also be used with Sony E-Mount bodies using Sigma's MC-11 mount converter. It has a very good image stabilization and is shorter, cheaper, produces less loCA, has a better Bokeh, and shows less vignetting
The 24-70 is 2.9x zoom ratio. The 14-24, only 1.7x. If you compare the Nikon to other lenses of the same focal length, you'll see it is much better than you give it credit for. semaphore's gear list: Nikon D850 Nikon AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED Nikon 85mm F1.8G Nikon 35mm F1.8G ED Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F4G ED VR.
Nikon's 24-70mm lens comes in around ÂŁ200 dearer than this Tamron optic at ÂŁ1200, and just like the Canon MkI 24-70, it lacks optical stabilisation. Sony users have a Carl Zeiss branded 24-70mm
Of course, I do own a light DX setup like others have mentioned for when I get lazy. But no, by too heavy, there are no balance issues or anything. The 24-70mm f/2.8 VR is a great lens! When I had a D750, my 24-70mm remained fixed on it 95% of the time. 24-70mm is a excellent focal length for many functions.
The Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 E ED VR II is a very big lens. You can kind of equate it to being a bit like a howitzer–except that it’s quite and doesn’t actually fire anything. The exterior of the
NIKON Z 7 + 70.0-200.0 mm f/2.8 @ 200 mm, 1/40 sec at f/8, ISO 64 In the end I'd say I'd be more than happy to use the Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR for (longer focal length) landscape work. It's not quite as composed at the 70-200 in the extreme corners but it definitely holds up very well
But when compared to the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II or even the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, the new Nikon 24-120mm f/4 is going to add more “character” to the background, as strong lines and specular highlights tend to be rendered with a slightly harder edge. Keep-clean fluorine coatings are also applied to the front and rear elements. We think this is a better choice than Nikon’s old and unstabilized 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom and the best Nikon lens for anyone who wants to upgrade their standard zoom.
